What do community cook-offs and resilience have in common? Lots, in fact! We're planning a chili & pie cook-off on Saturday, October 24 at VYCC because it's fun, it's fall, and there's no better way to bring the community together. And it's the perfect activity to complement our resilience fair and resilience planning workshop. Research shows that the communities that fare the best in disasters are the ones that have strong social ties and relationships. In short, the communities that get together to celebrate, eat good food, and build connections are much more likely to survive the next flood or storm. |
So come out and join us for the cook-off, a resilience fair with a range of activities and resources to help families, farms, homes and businesses, and an afternoon resilience planning workshop to help inform our Town Plan and Hazard Mitigation Plan.
